Science Hack Day SF Schedule

 

Details:

• Bring your hacking tools of choice: laptop, toolbox, arduinos, science kits, your imagination (lab coats optional)

• We'll supply: power, wireless network, hacking space, meals, snacks, stimulation (of the intellectual kind)

• Science Hack Day goes all night, so you have the option of spending Saturday night inside the venue. Your 3 convenient overnight options are (1) bring your own sleeping bag, (2) organize a place to crash with nearby attendees, (3) treat yourself to 1 night in a nearby hotel

 

Saturday, November 13:

Morning:

  • 9:30-10:30am: arrive, have breakfast (if taking the Caltrain from SF, there's a 9:15am departure that gets into Palo Alto at 10:17am for perfect timing)
  • 10:30am: Intro Talk
  • 10:40am: 60 sec introductions of speakers who will be giving brief presentations of ideas/raw stuff to hack on in a separate room
  • 10:50am: Talk: The Intersection of Science + Design by Maria Giudice of Hot Studio
  • 11am: Hacking begins!
  • 11am: In separate room: 1-2 hours of brief presentations (10-15 min each) of ideas/raw stuff to hack on

Afternoon:

  • Lunch at 12:30pm

Evening:

  • Dinner at 7pm

Late Night:

  • Attendee "Sync" - optional 2 min. talks about progress so far
  • Spend the night at the venue (optional)

 

Sunday, November 14:

Morning:

  • Breakfast at 9am

Afternoon + Early Evening:

  • Lunch at 12:30pm
  • 2pm: Hacking stops
  • 2-3pm: everyone has until 3pm to upload whatever they need to demo their hack/rehearse their presentation
  • 3pm: demos + afterparty: beers opened, teams give 120-second show-and-tell of their hack, peer voting conducted, judges meet in private for 10 min. to decide winner for each category
  • 5pm: announcement of winners for each category

Evening:

  • Feel free to go to a nearby bar for an after-after party!
