Page history last edited by Ariel Waldman 9 years, 6 months ago

Hacks demoed at Science Hack Day Antananarivo 2014

Solar Stove

Description: A solar-powered stove to help protect the environment that's economical/cheap. It would cost at most 1500MGA. The stove cooks without water (it can use steam instead). It's angular shape helps cook the food and the newspaper insulation keeps the box warm.

Tools: 2 cardboard boxes, sawdust, aluminum black matte pot, newspaper, foil, mirror, glue

Creators: Ravelomananjare Noelisoa, Rajaonoh Heritiana, Rajaonoh Nokoloina, Natanoela, Rinolne Mione Tokiniane (sp?)

Android Remote Controllers

Description: Remote control light, door, gates, rice cooker and plugs using an Android phone.

Tools: Java, NetBeans, ADT, Arduino, sound detector, light sensor, Android phone, computer wifi

Creators: Raharison Judela, Randriamintanisoa Andry Natolotia Fenositraka, Raoelijaona Allan Tojo Michael, Andriamiadantsoa Fanevanjonahary, Ralamboniaina Fano

Electronic Anti-locust

Description: Monostatic radar to detect when locusts, crickets, and bugs are around. Uses ultrasound to eradicate locusts. Locusts are a problem in Southern Madagascar and often kill crops. Ultrasound is already used on mosquitos, so why not locusts?

Tools: Presentation

Creators: Ramananjoelina Harimalala Fernande, Rasolofonirina Eric, Ramananjoelina Federico Lucas, Ramamamjoelina Janteherana Jeanneney Olivareis

Multi-Environment Detector

Description: Goal is to detect the level of pollution and thus climate change in the environment. In the future, it would use a smartphone or embedded wifi with battery.

Tools: Arduino, C++, PHP, MySQL, Website, Javascript, USB cable, styafoam, foil, sensors: temperature, humidity, light and sound

Creators: Hanitriarivo Rakotoson, Rohy Ramasinatrehina, Falinirina Herizo Ramaroson, Andrarina Rajoelimanana, Ramaivosoh Ravo Tobliana Raymond

Traffic Congestion Management

Description: Count cars via ultrasonic sensor and record weather. Phase 1 is to understand traffic, Phase 2 is to inform drivers and authorities on real-time road status in Tana.

Tools: Arduino, laser/ultrasonic sensors (humidity, speed, GSM/GPRS), micro SD shields, R Stat and Weka, Web application server, SMS, server database, modem

Creators: Hasina Rakotondrabe, Harinina Ratahinarijoa, Claudy Ranoarison, Rindra Rakosondriaseara, Herinirina Razakarimanana, Anja Ravel

Magic Dog and Shield

Description: Security dog to protect from intruders. Uses webcam to detect movement. Alerts your phone and computer if an intruder is detected. Dog will bark, wag tail and have LED eyes.

Tools: Arduino, PC, Cardboard Box, Light Sensor, Java, OpenCV, WebCam, LEDs, Android Phone, Markers, Relay, Soldering, Lightbulb, Motor

Creators: see Sce HD list group6 .pdf

The Lie Detector

Description: Emotion detector for animals and handicapped people. By taking the emotional readings from a human, you can show emotions on a graph. Skin resistance detects emotion and then displays the relevant emoticon.

Tools: Arduino, Processing, Foil, Sound, Buzzer, LED

Creators: see Sce HD list group6 .pdf

The Akouzen Project

Description: To increase farm efficiency and productivity through controlling things like light, sound and temperature. The aim is to make chickens more "zen" through controlling music and their feeding times. With this hack, you could get a 2.5 kilo chicken in 35 days instead of 45.

Tools: Cardboard, styrofoam, Arduino and sensors (temperature, light, weight, music output)

Creators: Sitraka Andrianony, Anpo Ravelomanantjoa Mihowjefre, Rankotoarisoa Mormy, Andry Rajaonah, Tsiaro Andrianohajoavina
